Poverty is a small word that weighs heavily on the shoulders of many community members. So we support the kind of programs that give the members of our community a chance for a brighter future.

Loaves & Fishes of the RGV
Loaves & Fishes of the Rio Grande Valley is a non-profit agency offering Help & Hope for the Hungry, the Homeless & the Hurting. The Bread of Life Dining Hall serves meals seven days a week in Harlingen and Raymondville. The Open Arms Homeless Shelter provides a safe environment. Family Emergency Assistance provides assistance to families in need of emergency rent and utility assistance. The New Hope Job Shop provides GED training and job placement. Great Physician Healthy Living is open Monday through Friday for basic medical care.
The Literacy Center of Harlingen
The Literacy Center of Harlingen is a non-profit organization established in 1986 dedicated to educating adults across the Harlingen and surrounding areas to improve their reading, writing, speaking and basic math skills they need to better their lives and the community. Services provided include GED Programs, ESL Classes, Citizenship Classes and Tutoring for Basic Math, Reading, Writing and Promotional Exams.
GreenPath
Unfunded partner which provides educational services and direct assistance to approximately 25,000 consumers Valley-wide with regard to management of personal finances and indebtedness.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

VITA is a free service and will aid qualifying local residents in claiming their tax refund dollars. Volunteers are trained and certified by the IRS as tax preparers and work at a local VITA site during the tax season preparing basic income tax returns for low to moderate income families.
